GASB 34 and Infrastructure Assets   New

Upon successful completion of this course, the user should be able to:

• define infrastructure assets under the Exposure Draft criteria (network-based, stationary, long-lived) and distinguish infrastructure assets from other capital assets for reporting purposes;

• apply the Exposure Draft's approach to subsequent measurement by explaining when component depreciation and periodic reassessment of useful lives/salvage values are required under historical cost reporting; and

• interpret the proposed disclosure and RSI enhancements - especially network-level aging infrastructure disclosures and modified-approach RSI expansion - to evaluate how they improve comparability and decision usefulness.
