Charles W. Stanley has been an associate professor of accounting at Baylor University where he served on the accounting faculty for over 40 years. He has taught financial accounting, managerial accounting, systems, auditing, ethics, and tax. Prior to his entry into education, Dr. Stanley worked in public accounting as an auditor, where he worked on audits of a variety of companies, including governmental audits and not-for-profit audits. As a member of the Texas Society of CPAs (TXCPA), he has been actively involved with the Professional Ethics Committee (PEC) for over 30 years and has served as the chair. He has also been a member of the TXCPA Professional Standards Committee and has served as an instructor for the Ethics courses presented by the TXCPA and his own ethics course that meets the TSBPA CPE ethics requirement. In addition, Dr. Stanley served as a member of the Special Review Committee of the Government Financial Officers Association, in which he reviewed the comprehensive annual financial reports of the governmental members. Dr. Stanley is also active in the American Accounting Association in which he has served as program chair for the Ethics Research Symposium and for the Public Interest section. He was the chair of the Public Interest section and served as chair until 2022. He is the author of a variety of other online CPE courses include accounting for employee benefit plans, compilation and reviews, SSARS 21, basics of governmental accounting, and 401(k) audits. He has published and presented numerous articles covering auditing, ethics, tax, systems, financial accounting, and managerial accounting. He has done a number of international papers and presentations and is currently working with colleagues in Brazil and Peru examining work-life balance issues and the impact of COVID-19 on CPAs.
