Mark S. Beasley is the KPMG Professor of Accounting and Director of the Enterprise Risk Management Initiative in the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University. Prior to joining the faculty at North Carolina State, Mark worked in public accounting as an audit manager and later served as a technical manager in the AICPA's Auditing Standards Division in New York City. Mark has published articles related to auditing in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Internal Auditing, Journal of Accountancy, and Strategic Finance, among others, and some of his research has been highlighted by The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Forbes.com. He is a co-author of an auditing textbook and an auditing casebook. His research interests include issues related to enterprise risk management, financial statement fraud, auditor quality, accounting estimates, and board of director governance. He has served on a number of national and international initiatives, including service on the COSO Board, the Auditing Standards Board Fraud Task Force (SAS No. 99 Task Force), the United Nation's Internal Control Advisory Group, and as President of the American Accounting Association's Auditing Section.
