Scott Trott currently serves as System Vice President of Managed Care for UNC Health, a not-for-profit integrated health care system owned by the State of North Carolina that includes a nationally renowned academic medical center, numerous owned and managed community hospitals, over 3,000 employed physicians, a clinically integrated network focused on value based payment models with over 5,000 providers ,and other ancillary health care entities, all based in North Carolina. He has held this position since 2015 and was the first person to assume this role. Scott is responsible for representing all of UNC Health's provider entities in and setting strategy for negotiations with commercial, managed care, and other payers. His team also provides the analytical, financial, and operational support for ongoing management of those relationships. He has been with the UNC Health since 1996, involved in increasingly responsible management roles generally focused on managed care and payer related initiatives. He has also led the supplemental benefits programs for UNC Faculty Physicians and IT for the practice plan at points in his career. Prior to joining UNC Health, Scott worked at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem where he completed a post-graduate Administrative Fellowship, and later worked at a subsidiary physician practice organization. He is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, several local health care groups, and actively participates in the AAMC's Association of Academic Practice Plan Associate Director's Forum section for managed care professionals. Scott's educational background includes a Master of Healthcare Administration and Bachelor of Science, Business Administration degrees, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
